Do you ever find yourself hearing something in your head that a wise friend or acquaintance said to you, or even just something you read somewhere a long time ago?
Maybe I’m just goofy, but this happens to me All.The.Time. It’s like I have these little sound bytes that play in my head like little cheering sections, telling me to keep going, that I’m doing just fine – or that I need to check myself, ahem!
As a writer, it’s kind of a given that I think words really matter, but I truly do believe these little nuggets of wisdom stick with me for a reason; that they’re actually informing who I am – or at least who I want to be. Another very fortunate side effect of being a writer is that I get to talk to really cool people I would have never met otherwise. After nearly 7 years of conversations, my cache of these little ‘sound bytes’ is overflowing!
So now I’d like to start sharing them here, starting with this lovely little gem by my friend, Christina Britt Lewis.
Christina is amazing and beautiful and talented – check out her blog here. She designed the stage for TedX Charlotte a few years ago, but I happen to think she should have spoken there too – pretty much everything that comes out of her mouth should be noted and shared!
I love that she’s embraced a life that rejects keeping up with the Joneses, and instead seeks to challenge herself to find out exactly who she’s truly meant to be – and to find loads of happiness in the process. That philosophy extends to Christina’s approach to interior design – something that goes counter to many in her industry, but there’s really room for all of it, don’t you think?!
Hope you enjoy Christina’s words here. Let me know if they pop into your head when you’re say, at the grocery store or something, like they do for me!
