When one of my favorite clients reached out and asked if I’d contribute an article for the Texas ASID chapter’s quarterly magazine, I was over the moon!
After all, I got my start as a writer freelancing for magazines and I love working with editors (though I rarely get the chance these days). There’s always something to glean from their insights and I can’t help but learn how to be a better writer from them. It’s like getting free (but really, really good!) mentoring!
And then there’s also the fact that I lived in Austin, Texas for 4 glorious years and I still miss the heck out of that city. My youngest son was born there – and let’s be clear that it was the food from the quintessentially Austinian Chuy’s Mexican restaurant that got me through that third pregnancy. Imagine my delight when a Chuy’s suddenly appeared right here in Charlotte! I still don’t know how or why that came about (Austin to Charlotte = weird), but as long as I get my fix of their green chile sauce from time to time, who am I to question it?!
At any rate, I’m beyond thrilled to be included in the most recent edition of Design Texas Magazine alongside such knowledgeable contributors as the brilliant Julia Molloy.
And of course, I always love seeing designers like those who belong to the Texas chapter of ASID being given resources, tips, and advice to help them move their businesses forward, no matter how seasoned or how new they are to the design industry.
So kudos to both the Texas chapter and to the publisher of Design Texas, Duff Tussing of DSA Publishing & Design, Inc. for putting together such an informative publication, not to mention a huge “thank you” for including me in that mix.

All the best,
